The restore process is nearly identical across our devices, and requires a freshly erased and formatted USB drive. The only differences are the files used to restore and the format and name of your USB drive. Please take note of these.

Please download the appropriate archive for your device:

*NOTE* WIN8.1 AND WIN10 RESTORES ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE DUE TO EMBEDDED WINDOWS KEY
    Quantum Access Restore Files Win8.1
New build Quantum Access & Quantum Access LAN Restore Files Win10
    File System: NTFS
    Volume Label: WINPE
**QUANTUM ACCESS REQUIRES A USB HUB OR microUSB to USB adapter**

*NOTE* WIN8.1 AND WIN10 RESTORES ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE DUE TO EMBEDDED WINDOWS KEY
Quantum Byte Windows 8.1 Restore Files
New build Quantum Byte Restore Files Win10
    File System: NTFS
    Volume Label: WINPE

Next, extract the contents of the archive file you downloaded.

Insert an 8GB USB drive that doesn’t contain any important data. Formatting the drive will erase everything on it.

    Step 1

Open this PC, right click on the (D:\) drive (your USB drive), and select format. Select either NTFS as noted for your device above. After the process is complete, name the drive “WINPE”, and then drag and drop the extracted restore files onto it.

    Step 2

    Step 3

    Step 4

    Step 5

    ===================================================================================================================
    EXAMPLE
Downloads/exampleRestoreFile.zip (Extract here will result in creating a exampleRestoreFile Folder)
Downloads/exampleRestoreFile/ (move into the directories till you reach bootmgr/bootmgr.efi/bootex.log file)

    Step 6

Copy the entire directory of above /Downloads/exampleRestoreFile and move the content into D:\
Now D:\ will have all the content, including folders and bootmgr/bootmgr.efi/bootex.log

    Step 7

    Step 8
    ===================================================================================================================

Next, reboot the device while the USB drive is connected. Press F7 repeatedly as the device boots. This will launch the boot menu. Select your USB drive.

Should F7 not work (dependent on BIOS revision), Press DEL during boot to reach BIOS. Move to the furthest most right tab (SAVE AND EXIT), locate “BOOT OVERRIDE” and select the appropriate boot device.

After the process is complete, your device will reboot as if it is new.

    This email is for Cris.

You responded yesterday to my request for assistance on installing Windows 10 on my Quantum View 10.1 HD. Thank You for returning my call and sorry I was not here. I have restored my HD to the factory default and have about 20 GB free. Do you have any idea when I will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 1511? Perhaps I am incorrect but it looks like a “NEW” install of 10 works but several drivers are missing that are unique to the HD causing issues. Is there a driver folder somewhere?

Thank You for your assistance and am looking forward to when I can install Windows 10.

    Hello Cal,

Unfortunately our display hardware is currently incompatible and we still recommend NOT upgrading to Windows 10. If you’d like, I could pull drivers from a working device and upload them. I would require the serial number to the device to keep the drivers within the same release.

Additionally, I removed the phone number you posted. We appreciate you providing us your information but please do not post your private information on public forums.

Have been trying for days now to download Quantum Access Restore Files but to no avail I keep getting a failed message after 26 to 36 mb of download and a very slow download speed my normal download speed would be in excess of 30mb/sec but on your server its around 100 to 200kb can you supply a stable link for me to download the file I need to reset my Quantum Access back to 8.1 as on windows 10 things are not right (sound , video, and wifi).

Hi, great device, I’m planning on using many more.

I have one issue, the wireless driver, I need a copy of it. I’ve upgraded to WIN10, much, much better than 8, but the wireless driver doesn’t seem to load at startup. Perhaps it has become corrupted. Can you please point me to a download?

I’m trying to download the restore files for the Quantum View. Have downloaded twice now, once through Google Chrome and once through Filezilla, and both times the zip folder is coming up as corrupt and refusing to extract. Can you shed any light on the problem?

Hey, I’m really at a loss with my View HD tablet. I upgraded to windows 10 and was having problems with the display because whenever I would sleep it the screen would go dark and never turn back on. I would have to press and hold the power button every time to turn it on. So I figured Microsoft would fix it during the time of the upgrade, but they didn’t. Then my time to downgrade back to Windows 8 expired so I downloaded your recovery software and put it on the tablet. Now I can’t use the touch screen at all, the internet is extremely slow, and now even on Windows 8, when I sleep the tablet it won’t wake up from it. I’ve looked through your FTP server and could not find the drivers, I tried to install the goodix drivers but it said there was a problem with the device. I don’t think you posted the View HD drivers. You uploaded a file called Windows 8.1-10 drivers but when I try to install them on Windows 8 it says my operating system isn’t supported. I check Windows update with nothing to be found. Please help, I really miss the tablet.

My Quantum Access has been stuck in the EFI shell and I can’t seem to get it to boot up any more. I downloaded the access restore files and loaded them to a flash drive and then I was able to get the device to boot from the flash drive just fine. But when the device boots up, I always get an error and then device shuts off. What other options do I have?

  • #2733

    Greg

    Jesse,

I’m having the same issue. Upgraded to Windows 10 and how the tablet will not wake once I hit the power button to put it to sleep. I’ve spent all day trying to work out a solution and nothing works.

    Azulle Support,

Is there any fix coming for this? I’m hoping I won’t have to return this tablet to you guys.

  • #2756

    Jon

    Jesse,

I had a similar problem with upgrading to WIN10 as well. I can’t say what the exact problem is, but there is one piece of hardware where, if the driver is installed for windows 10, it causes the tablet to be unable to wake from sleep. I know there are a few tablets that have this issue (at least one of the winbooks has this problem).

For the touchscreen driver, I had to dig around the ftp site, but the driver is located here: Goodix touchscreen driver

For some reason it isn’t included by default in the restore image.

My Quantum Access is stuck at the EFI shell, and will not boot into WIndows any longer. I downloaded the restore, loaded onto a USB, ensured the volume name is WINPE, and rebooted the system selecting my USB drive to boot from. The recovery has an error after calling wpeinit:

ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value. WinPESource is drive letter ""

    Drive letter NOT found.

Trying to find drive letter using diskpart

Running Diskpart to get Volume letters

    Parsing list to find WinPE

    WinPESource is ":\"

    call :\Scripts\Main.cmd
The system cannot find the batch label specified - \Scripts\Main.cmd

After this, I am left with a command prompt. I tried running diskpart manually, then list volume, but the system says there are no volumes available. That may be why it is not finding the Main.cmd script. This leaves me with a system I am unable to restore. Are there any suggestions to move beyond this step, or would the unit need to be sent for RMA perhaps?

    Thanks.

Still hoping to see the restore files for the Quantum Access with Windows 10 soon. Thanks!

    Hello Jeff,

We will release Windows 10 restore files when the Access (non lan) when we release the std. access with Win 10. The reason for this is because you will NOT be able to activate the access if the access you purchased came with Windows 8.1 and you restore using Windows 10. The keys are embedded and will not activate using a key from a different OS.

    Cris,

We actually purchased the Windows 10 version of the Quantum Access with LAN Port. We’ve purchased 3 units and have been testing them with our hardware and software. We’ve also been testing potential configuration scripts to be completed by our field crew if we were to use these. With all the testing we’ve been doing we’d like to reset them back to their native configuration.

    Thanks,

    Hello Drew,

The solution for the issues with your touch screen is the follow:

Please restart the device and press DEL immediately during boot to reach BIOS SETUP. Once in the bios, move over to the advanced tab and scroll down to OS/BOM (third option from the bottom) and make sure that the touch panel option is set to FocalTech(View2014002999 or lower), or Goodix(View20153000 or higher)

Do not hesitate to contact us directly if you any question or need further help.

    Thank you.

    Hi All,

I’m hoping someone can help me get my Quantum View 10.1 back up and running again.

I attempted to upgrade to Win 10, but, part way through installation one of the reboots spawned a command window which quickly flashes up followed by “Restoring previous version of Windows” which never completes. Now every time I power on I’m stuck in this same loop.

Is there any way I can restore back to my previous Win 8.1 and retrieve my document files ?
Worst case for me, how can I restore my tablet so I can boot a fresh version of Win 8.1 ? as my tablet is bricked right now 🙁

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello JP,

Let me help you with a couple of ideas. You can always go back to Windows 8.1 performing a factory restore, the instructions of how to do it you can find above. However that would wipe out your hard drive, if you are in the need to save you files I would recommend you to boot from a live distro 32 bits to copy your files to an external hard drive or USB. The distro will not fully work out the box (no Wi-Fi, BT or sound) but it will be functional enough to allow you to transfer the files.

    Thank you,

Are there any plans to create a Win8.1 restore file set that works? I have tried it several times with different USB drives and it simply does not work. I’ve worked with you tech support and still no luck. I did use the “New build Quantum Access & Quantum Access LAN Restore Files Win10” and it restores and works great. Unfortunately the Access was originally Win8.1 and will not activate now that 10 has been installed.

    Hello,

Are there any plans to create a Win8.1 restore file set that works?

Please recheck the link for Windows 8.1, we’ve reviewed the ISO and is working as it should. If you want we can generate a MD5 so you can confirm that you have the correct file.

Switched a BIOS setting and now my Device dose not launch BIOS at all

What did you change on the BIOS? Please be careful with what is changed as you could potentially unintentionally brick your device. Also try with the follow: unplug everything, wait 10 secs, turn the TV on, connect all the cables, pick the proper HDMI input and then, turn the device on

    Let us know the result.

    Thank you

I downloaded the Windows 8.1 files again and recreated the USB restore stick. It still fails in the exact same place. It starts the process then a red window pops up:

    ****************************************************************************************
    ****************************************************************************************

    “Failed to make w:recyclerscratch directory”

The same error I got before.

This is the same Access PC that I have successfully restored Windows 10 to with no issues. It was originally Windows 8.1 so I need to restore it to 8.1 first.

    Hello watts428,

I am very sorry for the inconvenience. Let us assist you with the issue that you are experiencing.

First, let’s make sure that your factory restore file is the same from the server. In order to do that we are going to use MD5SUM, since it is largely used for verification purposes around the Internet.

    The MD5SUM from the server: 6c 59 55 71 f9 0d db 01 05 b9 bc bc 73 e7 59 e0

In your Windows computer, do the follow(see attached picture):

    – Open the folder where you saved the restore file
    – At the top left corner of your screen when you’re in the folder, click “File” and hover over “Open command prompt.”
    – Select “Open command prompt”
    – Type this command and press Enter:

CertUtil -hashfile “Quantum Access Restore.zip” MD5

Compare the output, both strings should be the identical.

If the files are the same, then it’s probably something on the USB:

-Could you check that you copied all the files to the root of the drive ?
-Make sure that the USB drive doesn’t have any extra partitions
-Is the USB labeled as WINPE and formatted as FAT32 ?

    Please update the result.

    Thank you

I downloaded the file again and ran the MD5SUM:
    F:\Downloads\PCCard\Windows 8_1 Restore Files>certutil -hashfile “Quantum Access Restore.zip” MD5
MD5 hash of file Quantum Access Restore.zip:
    6c 59 55 71 f9 0d db 01 05 b9 bc bc 73 e7 59 e0
    CertUtil: -hashfile command completed successfully.
    It matches.
I checked the number of files in the unzipped directory and it was 50, I check after I copied to the USB drive and it was 50 on each drive. I tried 3 different drives. A generic 8GB, a Lexar 8GB and a 16Gb SanDisk. All labeled WINPE and all formatted FAT32. All failed with the same above posted error.

    The Access stick is Model:A-1048QA
    S/N QA2015090896
on the end of the stick: QD08-ID:2667035560574
The BIOS is Core Version 5.008
When it boots you see AZULLE – Technology Inspired by Real People V4.00

As I have said before, I can restore it with the Win10 restore files above with no problem, but no the Win8.1 files.

    Hello watts428,

Thank you for the update. Let’s just try a different approach:

You can install Windows 8.1 Home 32 bits by downloading the file from Microsoft and after that you just need to install the drivers so the hardware can function properly.

Let me explain a little further:

Our restore file is just a plain Windows 8.1 Home version (we don’t install any type of bloatware) plus the drivers for the hardware on the device (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, …). By accessing this Microsoft webpage you will be able to download a tool that will allow you to prepare a USB drive to install Windows 8.1 as regular. Please make sure to select Windows 8.1 and 32-bit (x86) for the Architecture. As for the key license, since is embedded on the hardware, you will have no issues activating the OS.
After the installation, review our FTP for the drivers:

    ftp://ftp.azulletech.com/Software/Drivers/Access%20and%20Byte/

Keep us posted with the progress.

    Thank you

I was able to download the media creation tool, not from your link as it didn’t work. I did create the 8.1 USB drive and booted to it. The problem is before you can start the installation, you have to put a key in. I was able to find a universal key on the internet and get it installed. I then downloaded a utility to read the key out of BIOS. I tried to activate the OS with the key from BIOS but it says “That key can’t be used to activate this edition of Windows. Please try a different key.”

    Any other suggestions?

    **** UPDATE*****

After getting Windows 8 reinstalled as described, I found a link to a Windows 10 Media Creator. If your stick was previously upgraded to windows 10 you can use this link to create a Windows 10 install USB drive and install Windows 10. It will install and give you a digital activation of Windows 10. Download the Azulle Access Windows 10 wireless drivers from the above link in this thread and you are set. I don’t know if there are other drivers needed from Azule as I have not gotten that far in testing.
    Here is the link:{go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209}

EDIT: I don’t know why the link won’t work, but if you manually type it in a browser it will automatically start to download the Media Creator

    Thanks!

I have a problem with my Access Mini PC Stick, I turn it on and only show the Quantum Icon an at the bottom centre the circle turning, already have more than 3 hours and nothing happens, no application opens.
For that reason I think it would be better to make a factory reset but there are no steps for my Access Mini PC Stick.
Could you please tell me the steps need to follow?
Or any recommendation from the experts of what to do.
    Thank you very much,

    Hello huzyyy,

Thank you for using the Azulle forums. The Quantum Access only supports Windows 10 32 bits OS, you probably have an Access Plus:

If that is the case, please use these instructions instead:

Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Best regards
