I’m considering an I5-7100U running Ubuntu, or possibly Mint.
I need to be able to get 6 or 7 separate channels of audio, and 1 subwoofer channel (and video), out via the HDMI. I need to be able to independently start and stop sounds on individual channels, which I believe is possible by setting up ALSA properly. Before I spent money on this PC and an audio de-embedder, has anyone done this and are there any pitfalls? Most of my experience is with raspberry pi and I’ve had a lot of trouble getting audio to behave. Any tricks or traps?
