      Hello,

You can easily install a GNU/Linux distro on the Byte Plus ( https://azulletech.com/product/byte-plus-windows-10-fanless-mini-desktop-pc/ ) or on the Access Plus ( https://azulletech.com/product/access-plus-fanless-windows-mini-pc-stick/ ), since unlike the Quantum devices, the BIOS doesn’t have to be changed. This guide will help you to accomplish such purpose:

1- Download our Ubuntu ISO: ftp://ftp.azulletech.com/Recovery/Access%20Plus/ubuntuPlus.iso
2- Download Rufus in order to prepare the bootable USB ( https://rufus.akeo.ie )
3- Open Rufus and make sure that you use the GPT partition scheme for UEFI and select the correct ISO.

4- After the process is completed, restart the PC and access to the BIOS by pressing the DEL key as soon as the device turns on
5- Once in the BIOS move to the last tab: Save and Exit and under the boot override section select your media USB
6- Proceed to install Ubuntu as regular.

If you have any question or doubt, please do not hesitate to contact us.

      Best regards

      Hello,
Ubuntu 16.04 installs just fine on the Byte Plus; however, I am having trouble with the sound via HDMI. The only option in the sound settings is two-channel analog over HDMI, is there a driver or setting of some kind to get the digital output working. Or the broader question is how do I get digital audio to my AVR from the byte plus using hdmi or ac3/dts pass thru.

      Hello bababiff,

Welcome to the Azulle forums. I suggest you to try the latest LTS -18.04-. This release comes with a newer version of the kernel that handles the hardware on the Byte Plus better.

Do not hesitate to contact us directly if you need further assistance.

      Best regards

      Hello bababiff,

Thank you for the update. Have you tried with a different TV just to confirm if the behavior is the same? I am also assuming that you are using HDMI since VGA doesn’t pass audio. Also please confirm if you used our ISO:

      ftp://ftp.azulletech.com/Recovery/Access%20Plus/ubuntuPlus.iso

Do not hesitate to contact us directly if you need further assistance.

      Best regards.

I also tried installing ubuntu 16.04 onto my access plus using your iso and couldn’t get any sound output over hdmi. Per your suggestion, I upgraded to 18.04 and still no sound. Any sugggestions?

      Hello pfriedma,

Have you tried to change the sound output?

      https://itsfoss.com/how-to-fix-no-sound-through-hdmi-in-external-monitor-in-ubuntu/

Let us know if you are able to see the HDMI sound output.

      Best regards
