Anyone else have their byte3 basically made useless with the new Windows 10 update? It left me with only 500 meg of space. We had to delete the old files to gain 17 gig. What do we do now? I’m sure that windows is going to do more updates and suck up more of the limited space we have.
I have a 250 gig hard drive hooked to it via USB but as far as I’m aware there isn’t any way to have the operating system work on an external drive.
I’m so disappointed and feel so much regret after this purchase. 32 gig hard drive should have been enough to watch netfiix, youtube, browse the internet, check email, and some social networking. It should have been enough. But it’s not! And now the warranty is gone, and I’m stuck with this. It’s only 5 days over a month old. I feel so foolish for my purchase.
Can anything continue to run on a computer that is limited to less than 32 gig for the operating system?

I just checked my Byte3. My unit has all the Win 10 ver 1709 associated updates. I have 14 GB free on the SSD. I system is supplemented with a 250 GB M.2 sata drive. Any new programs, I have the system load it to this drive to spare the SSD.
It is running fine with no hiccups.

This is a known issue from Microsoft and has been reported by several brands. Their updates sometimes get stuck in the middle of the process and take away the little space on the units. I will recommend you to have a look of this guide posted in the Microsoft site:

That is correct, you can also add your own internal storage and transfer the Operating System to the new and bigger drive. For the Byte3 you can use either a 2.5″ SSD SATA or a m.2 SSD SATA up to 320 GB.
